Travel Health Insurance - Are you really covered?
Do you have the travel bug? More and more people are travelling outside Canada for their holidays and vacations. Travel health insurance is so important and is available through many different providers including credit card companies, auto coverage (CAA) and private insurance companies.
We offer coverage through a variety of different insurance providers including, Blue Cross, Allianz Global (formerly TIC) and TUGO (Travel Underwriters).
When travelling, you should never leave home without travel health insurance coverage. Before you leave on any type of vacation you need to ask yourself, “Is my travel insurance coverage adequate for all circumstances in case of a medical emergency or treatment?”
The following article provides an example of how the lack of travel insurance coverage from a credit card proved to be an extremely difficult and tragic experience for a Brandon family.
As you prepare to go on vacation, we would be happy to check over whatever policy you have to see if you have adequate coverage. We want to ensure that your travel insurance is comprehensive enough to cover any medical issues that may arise while you are away. If a claim arises medical costs could amount in thousands of dollars; having travel health insurance can avoid these costs.
Travel insurance is also important if travelling outside your province. Your provincial healthcare plan has limited coverage. Any payments made out-of-province could be reimbursed by your provincial plan, but only after you have paid initially and submitted your receipts. The amount you paid may not be covered by your plan.
