Travel Health Insurance - Are you really covered?

Do you have the travel bug?  More and more people are travelling outside Canada for their holidays and vacations.  Travel health insurance is so important and is available through many different providers including credit card companies, auto coverage (CAA) and private insurance companies.  

We offer coverage through a variety of different insurance providers  including, Blue Cross, Allianz Global (formerly TIC) and TUGO (Travel Underwriters). 

When travelling, you should never leave home without travel health insurance coverage. Before you leave on any type of vacation you need to ask yourself, “Is my travel insurance coverage adequate for all circumstances in case of a medical emergency or treatment?” 

The following article provides an example of how the lack of travel insurance coverage from a credit card proved to be an extremely difficult and  tragic experience for a Brandon family.

As you prepare to go on vacation, we would be happy to check over whatever policy you have to see if you have adequate coverage.  We want to ensure that your travel insurance is comprehensive enough to cover any medical issues that may arise while you are away.  If a claim arises medical costs could amount in thousands of dollars; having travel health insurance can avoid these costs. 

Travel insurance is also important if travelling outside your province.  Your provincial healthcare plan has limited coverage.  Any payments made out-of-province could be reimbursed by your provincial plan, but only after you have paid initially and submitted your receipts.  The amount you paid may not be covered by your plan.  For further information on out-of-province coverage visit:

Do you know the procedures if a medical issues arises when you are on vacation?  

Be sure to keep a copy of your policy with your Passport, as well as your health card.  If something were to happen, make sure you contact your travel health insurance company as soon as possible and they will guide you in the necessary steps you need to make. 

Having  adequate coverage will give you the peace of mind that you and your loved ones will get the best care while away.
